? my printer does something...

Post by Candid » Thu Nov 20, 2008 4:59 pm

OK, every time we print a receipt the printer forwards the paper about the length of a receipt and I can’t figure out why. It also does it when we first start up the program and it asks whether or not we want an opening receipt. I select no and it just forwards the paper a while. This is resulting in a lot of wasted paper or time, to open the printer and recoil the paper. Any ideas?

Hi Candid,

If you could tell us which version your using and how is your printer connected to your PC through serial port (COM 1, 2,...), parallel port (LPT 1,..) or USB (with driver installed for printer and using Asprint) will be a big help. We will be able to help you when we have the above info.

Sorry it took me so long to get back, just opened the store and it’s a little time consuming.

Anyway, we have the lattest virsion, I think it’s 7.0, we are using a USB with Asprint and we’ve got the Epson M188D printer.
On a side note, I’ve used the codes on the website and can’t get the cash drawer to open up if anyone hase any ideas.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Candid,

go in and remove the codes that you put in for the cash drawer and see if that stops the printer from putting out the paper. Did you get a manual with the printer when you bought it.

Did you try any other codes for other epson printers listed on the page like the one for the tm88ii printer which is 27,112,0,25,250 and the tm88iii is 27,112,0,64,240 which could work with your printer.

If you don't get any luck the above codes please post back and let us know if the printer stops printing the lenghs of paper your getting at the moment.

That did not work either.

Yes we did get a manual, I'll have to go through it with a fine comb to see if I missed something somewhere.

Didi you test it wiht out the cash drawer code to see if it stoped printing the blank reciepts.

If it does not prints the blank recieps then we know that the codes that you tried are causing the blank recieps and we also know the codes are beening sent to the printer.

To make sure that the codes are going to the printer use the codes 65,66,67,68,69. This will not open the cash register but will print ABCDE on the paper.

Can we assume that except for the blank feed at the beginning of each receipt that the receipt is printing correctly and is not double spaced? Also what is the setting you are using for "Blank lines between receipts?

Nothing ever happens when I am in postconfig and in the cash drawer function and attempt to send signal to open drawer. I put in the 65-69 combo and still, nothing, but it does notmally print. Durring print, everything is fine, no douyble spaces or anything, and the setting is 0 for lines after?

Here is another code this was taken from a working till system. It was not running dhpos

27,112,48,50,

I hope to also workout the problem with the paper feed.

Could you go to your printer do the following

turn it off
Hold down the feed button and turn it on.

It will print a test page and could you post the info that is on it here so I can try and work out your problem.

when it finnish printing the test page trun off your printer and turn it on again.

Candid,

When you tried the 65,66,67,68,69 code it did not print ABCDE on the top of the receipt? That is very weird. I have a USB printer here and it prints ABCDE at the top of my receipts.

Of course it does not open the cash drawer because the 65,66,67,68,69 code is not supposed to.

The test page came out good. No extra at the end of it.

I went back into config and printed a test reciept, it still advances after the page.

I'm sorry, it did print ABCDE on top of at least some of the receipts, I don't see most of them, but it does nothing at the time, while I'm in config, when I tell it to send a test receipt.
