tax exempting

Post by Koltmusic » Tue Oct 30, 2007 5:21 pm

is there any way of tax exempting only one tax???? Here is what i ran into ,,, a customer came in bought about 10 items and when i ran up the sale, then stated that it was for resale and thus Pst exempt( we have a 7% pst here and a 6% GST) I found that there was a tax exempt feature along with a prompt for the tax number but it exempted all taxes. is there away to be able to exempt one of the taxes only and still keep the functionality for the tax number capture. Well, no.

The only way around this is to have 3 tax rates like this in your tax chart.

Code: Select all

1 7.000 6.000
2 0.000 6.000
3 7.000 0.000
4 0.000 0.000
5 0.000 0.000
6 0.000 0.000
7 0.000 0.000
8 0.000 0.000
9 0.000 0.000

Normally you would charge everything to rate #1. However if you want to charge only one of the tax rates then when ringing up an item and you are at the "Price" prompt you can press [F7] to toggle through the tax rates to get the one you want.

Unfortunatly you will have to do this as you ring up each line and if the customer waits until the end of the sale you will have to do the sale over from the beginning.

Thats to bad as most people that are reselling usally dont let you know till the end of the sale, what about a global over ride on the tax rate, in a another for sale pos software that i worked with in the past had a Tax shift function that would over ride the taxes set on the items, thus if someone was buying for resale the software you could in effect set he tax rate to lvl say 2 for the whole sale.
