Printer error, but receipt still prints

Post by tav » Mon Jan 08, 2007 11:32 am

Hi,

I'm setting up the POS for the first time, on a Windows 98 computer. It seems to run smoothly, except for the following problem.

I've tried connecting two different printers: an Epson LX-800 and an HP Laser Jet 6L, both on the LPT 1 port. I've set up receipts to print automatically. I have no cash drawer.

When a transaction is completed, a printer error box comes up. If I press 1 (problem fixed, continue printing), nothing happens. If I press 2 (unsolvable problem, cancel print), the error box vanishes and the print comes out as usual.

Any ideas how to solve this? It makes an irritating delay before the receipt comes out.

Thanks!

Sounds to me that you have not set your "printer ready code" properly in POSCONFG. See the "Program Printer" option which will show the current code being sent by the printer as a "ready" code, and you can choose the option on that screen to use that value.

Also - one printer may send a different "ready" code than the other - DHPOS doesn't support more than one ready code, so if that's the case you're going to be stuck until you ditch one printer.
