another problem

Post by Reed » Sat Jul 15, 2006 5:24 pm

Ok, so, I'm waiting for my Epson reciept printer to come on Monday. For now, I'm using an Eltron 2844 thermal label printer (parallel). Two problems:

1. I can't get the prtiner to print directly from DOS...I have to use APRINT

2. When I do get the printer to work with APRINT, there is a square printed at the end of every line.

Does anyone have the answers?

Forced line feed

In the "Printer setup" feature to you have "Forced line feed" set to "NO"?

Are you using APRINT.EXE or APRINT2.EXE ?

Printer port

Post by Dale Harris » Sat Jul 15, 2006 10:19 pm

In the "Printer setup feature of the POSCONFG.EXE program you have to set the port to LPT1: to print to the parallel printer port.

However I have to admit that I know nothing about the printer that you are using and it may in fact require that you use APRINT

posconfig is indeed set to LTP1....but now that I think about it, it doesn't suprise me that it doesn't support line printing from DOS, as it is a barcode label printer.

Thanks for the info!
