printing from dos

Post by monstermanor » Wed Jun 22, 2005 7:47 pm

Hello, I'm planning on buying a receipt printer soon (yes, a parallel one) and want to use it to print from dos (with DHPOS.) Do I need a driver and if so is there a generic one that will work with most printers? Also, are there any recommendations for printer brands to look for?

Thanks,
Steve

If you are running DHPOS from DOS (without windows) it should require no driver. Even under Windows - most parallel receipt printers will function perfectly fine without a driver.

I recommend Citizen printers, I have an IDP3541 which works well with DHPOS and the auto-cutter bar works too. I also have an IBM journal/slip/receipt model which I can't remember the model of - but this works also, although I prefer the Citizen.

Thanks for the information; I will be using pure dos so I'm glad I won't need a driver!

Thanks,
Steve
