you are a bit right...what i did isi just re-format the header and footer to minimize the empty line on print out...Although the outcome is a bit of funky but as long as it is usable then is ok for me...just compromise a bit...my main intension is to use the same stock table to keep track of my stock ...FormicaFun wrote:That sounds like a great idea, but if I'm not mistaken, when you would attempt to print a receipt on a 40 collum printer, it would print the first 40 characters, then new line, and the remaining 40 characters for all the lines. So you'd end up with a funky looking receipt, instead of a cash invoice.

Well...
I like Andrew's idea of beeing able to retrieve the header/footer from global, and adjusting it locally if necessary. Does make sense, seeing as how you choose the settings for your printer locally (as far as 40/80 collums, page/continuous<sp?>, etc...). And leaving the coupons on the global folder, just to ensure that one doesn't forget to remove a coupon from a terminal after the promotion ends. However, it just seems to be an awful lot of work, for not alot accomplished.
How different would the header/footers really be? The store info wouldn't change would it? Not unless you're in some huge megla-mart where one terminal is in a different zip code than the others. We've already taken care of identifying one terminal from the next on the receipt, so that's not it. I do like the idea of "centereing" the 40 collum header on the terminals that have 80 collum as their printer setting. Is that possible Dale? Maybe I'm just missing something.

lol FormicaFun is my new best friend!
It would be a lot of work, however fairly beneficial.
As for centering 40 col receipts on 80 col printers, it would be (relatively) easy to append 20 characters to the start of each line (because of course there would be 20 on the other side of the receipt too).

This thread is growing rapidly. The keen-eyed amongst our forum visitors will note I have added a poll to the top of the thread, to get a more easy to see opinion.
Have your say and vote in the poll at the top of this page!
Please remember polls such as this do not necessarily direct what will be programmed into DHPOS. They are purely for feedback purposes.

Yay! I have a best friend.....
Well, what a pleasure to know my opinion is held so highly. I as well participated in the poll...and am glad to finally see the threads take off like they once did. It's been many moons since we've had such discussion over a topic.

Hmm.....
Well, now there's a thought. I like it. Good job guest!
Other Global \ Local Ideas
Seeing as this is a hot topic, I have another idea to throw into the mix.
How about the register name itself, that shows up on the main screen to be local. This way for instance each register can display it's own name.
Examples Register 1, Register 2, Back office, Customer Service.....
Poor Dale!!! He's going to have a headache over all of this!!
