Customer accounts

Post by Dale Harris » Thu Mar 10, 2005 7:49 pm

Gary,

I assume that you mean "Customer accounts" because the program already tracks customers.

Basically the deal is that at the end of a sale instead of paying for it the customer will be able to charge it to his account. This will open a folder on the hard drive for that customer and the transaction will be saved to the folder. The merchandise sold will be removed from inventory at this point. Two receipts will print out, one for the customer and another that the customer signs and you keep. That is all the POS.EXE program will do.

Another new program file that I will have to create will manage the all the transactions for all the customers. It will allow you to take payments from customers to pay off their outstanding charges. It will allow you to display all of the customers transactions forever. Transactions are not erased when paid, they are just marked "Paid". The "accounts" program will add payments to the data of the POS program, i.e. add to the tax paid, cash sale, (check sale, credit sale, whatever) and "cash in reg." etc. This means that the sale does not really happen until it is paid. You will not owe sales tax to the government until you collect it from the customer.

You will be able to have the program scan all of the customer accounts to find those that are overdue.

This will also allow "lay-aways"

Do you have any ideas?

Since this is going to take a long time to do I am waiting for a huge block of free time in my life to become available, I am not seeing this in the near future.

I for one cannot wait for this feature to be implemented. I have a few customers who have accounts and i currently park their sales. This not a very good idea as i cannot complete the sale until they have paid in full, so i keep a record of their payments on paper (sigh).
