Auto cutter not working properly on printer

Hello Dale,
I have recently purchased a Samsung SRP-350(Parallel) Thermal Receipt printer to use with your POS program. This is the first receipt printer that I have attempted to use. I have set it up as per your instructions and the printer prints perfectly uisng the POS Register and pops the cash drawer as expected. I also entered the correct decimal codes in the printer setup to activate the auto cutter and the auto cutter works perfectly when I test it using the F4 key while still in printer setup. Unfortunately the auto cutter doesn't function at all when using the POS register itself. The printer manual gives three different decimal code options for the auto cutter and I have tried them all with no success (all codes work perfectly in printer setup via the F4 test). Can you give me any advice as to how I might get the auto cutter to work with the register?

Robert,
Try this, set your cutter codes to 65,66,67. This will not activate your cutter but it will print ABC on your receipt when the cutter is supposed to be activated. If your receipts do not print ABC at the end of the receipt then the program is not sending the code and I will have to find out why. If ABC is printed then it is another problem. Let me know what happens.

Hi there,
I think the Samsung unit you mention is the Epson TM-88II lookalike? You could try the Epson cutter codes.
It sounds like you may have the Windows drivers installed for the unit?

Alan - thanks for your interest. Yes the Samsung SRP-350 can emulate either the Epson TM-88II or the Star TSP600 series depending on a dip switch setting.
I am using POS on a windows network (XP Pro). A driver wasn't included with the printer, however I have loaded and tested several windows print drivers including the windows generic, Epson, and a beta Samsung I found on the http://www.samsungminiprinters.com website in an effort to solve this problem. All of the drivers work the same through POS and have had no effect on the cutter. This was no big surprise since (correct me if I am wrong) POS being a DOS program doesn't use the windows driver to control the printer...which is why you have to set up the printer directly within the POS config. The windows drivers themselves all seem to work fine since each of them activated the printer and the cutter when I did a test print during the driver installation.
I also thought to test the cutter with the Epson TM-88II cutter codes but I don't have them and I couldn't google them either. If someone could post them for me I will give them a try, although I think that they may be the same codes since this printer uses Epson ESC-POS control commands.

I found the problem. The POSCONFG.EXE program was saving the cutter codes in the local folder (which is correct) but the POS.EXE program was looking for them in the global folder. Needless to say, this does not work.
