Tax change password

Post by Dale Harris » Tue Mar 01, 2005 7:24 pm

Last week in chat someone asked about having a password to prevent changing the tax rate for an item. In other words after pressing [F7] to change the tax on an item you would have to enter a password before the tax rate could be changed.

He is planning on opening a bar and feels that his employees would use this to give a discount to friends and relatives.

Has anyone out there had a problem with this?

While I do not want to create a new password for this I am willing to add this to the "Discount / reduction" password. For example if you activate the "Discount / reduction" password you would have to enter it to allow a discount, reduction, or a tax rate change for an item.

Another question is would you also want this password to apply to making a sale "tax exempt" at the end of the sale?

PASSWORD for tax changes

Post by AliasXR » Tue Mar 01, 2005 11:17 pm

Hi, I vote YES ande here is why.

Tax can be changed in pos without a password and I find it concerning that a member of staff could change this. Having anyone change the tax % to anything can mean they could over ring, under-ring etc, give discounts to frinends etc and possibly put you on bad terms with the IRS.

It wouldnt hurt people who dont want to lockdown their system as they could just have the password turned off. But it would be nice to have the option.

Many thanks :)

Danny.

i agree,

there should be a way to prevent tax from being not paid.

On a similar matter, could this also be extended to disable the non-taxable / tax-exempt.

In australia, you got to pay the GST reguardless om items which are GST inclusive.
