I have a SD803 Smartpro CCD scanner and I can't get what it is scanning to show up on the computer screen. It will scan it and beep but nothing happens on the computer. Also it will scan every type of barcode except the ones I use in my store. Please help.

Scanner Settings...
Hey Jordan,
Just a thought, check your scanner's manual. If you don't have it, check the company's website. Most scanners have special programming barcodes that you can you to adjust settings on the scanner. Everything from how loud/long it beeps, to what types of barcodes it will/will not scan. It might just be that your scanner is setup not to scan those types of barcodes. The company that I work for uses these settings for various reasons. For example, on most coupons in the US there are two barcodes. The UPC-A style is for the cash register to know what the coupon is for, and how much to deduct. <this by the way is really quite nifty how it works, you can search google.com for more info on how that number is put together> and the second is a EAN-13 <if memory serves>, this is more like a routing number on a check. It tells the coupon processing company where to send the coupon, valid dates, etc... Anywho....it used to get really annoying when we'd be scanning coupons and the scanner always seemed to scan the EAN barcode. Some of the vetrans would use fingers to cover up the barcode, but even that became cumbersome, so the lovely people at systems technology came by and eliminated the abitilty to scan EAN barcodes....and away we went. Long story short, check your manual, it might just be that your scanner isn't setup to scan the type of barcode you use.
Keeping my fingers crossed,
Ryan
