Post by Adam Ward » Fri Oct 27, 2006 10:00 pm

Hi ... I'm writing regarding help I am willing to offer my time to translate this program into a working French version ... I am presently on workman's comp so I have a lot of time on my hands ... I have used this program for a little more than two years for my part0time computer consulting business with great success ... it now is running on a Dell Inspiron 1150 which prints bills on a network printer wirelessly.

I thhought that translating would be a great way of helping out ... Tell me what I need to do this and I'll get started If dale is willing hehehe

Keep up the great Work :D

So as I understand it ...translating the whole darn thing is a pain in the lower back ... Although I might be acting dumb or whatever ... but most french language programs I have deciphered whose source code is available ... the programming is in English ... only the Menus etc change ... :?

Worst off I can start with the FAQ and start there ... It's a start :P

Adam,

As you've probably figured out - the source code isn't available open source, for some important reasons Dale has outlined previously.

I think the problem with the language being hard coded into the program (other than the obvious reasons) is that with so many strings etc built in, it's difficult to keep track if you're not a native speaker of that language.

QBasic is an elderly language, and as such does not permit us to do many things we wish it would - thus limiting some of the big ideas that people come up with, such as translation. But we get by thanks to Dale's knack of balancing keeping a broad variety of users happy while keeping within the limitations of QBasic and DOS.
