In keeping with my new policy of no longer protecting users from themselves we have a snappy new feature in the POS program.
If you go to the "Tax rate" or "Password" feature of the POSCONFG.EXE program the "Tax" password will now have 5 possible functions.
0. Password not used
1. Password required to access tax chart from the POS.EXE program.
2. Password required to access tax chart and to be able to change the tax rate on an item being rung up in a sale.
3. Password required to access tax chart and to make a sale tax exempt.
4. Password required to access tax chart and to be able to change the tax rate on an item being rung up in a sale and to make a sale tax exempt.
If you use the new options 2 - 4 then this will require a person with either the "tax" or "master" password to be at the register to either change a tax rate during a sale or to make the entire sale tax exempt depending on the function (2 - 4) that you set. If you use the password to allow the changing of the tax rate for an item then if you want to change the the tax rate on another item later in the sale you will have to enter the password again.

Beta Testing
Hello Dale,
I am spending a little bit of time testing this out for you & have one question? Is there a way to make an entire sale with multiple tax items tax exempt like at the end of the order or do you have to hit F7 each time you enter a taxable item?

Tax Exempt
Tina,
After you press [+] to total the sale, and the payment options are at the bottom of the screen, press [F7] to make the entire sale tax exempt by typing the customer's tax exempt ID number into the box that will appear. Actually any text entered into the box will do. To cancel a tax exemption press [F7] to return to the box and erase the text in the box.
