The CRNC is re-incarnated...

OK, well today I spent the better part of the day and night thinking about the old CRNC site (http://crnc.notlong.com) former site of the newspaper and magazine, and later - articles posted about DHPOS and related news...

The site has grown tired and much in need of a shape-up and re-alignment. At the moment, I am envisioning a portal-like site, which offers links to getting POS, getting hardware, and getting support.

At the moment, I have only just completed the transfer of the KnowledgeBase to the new database and I think you'll really like the changes made in this area.

To access the KnowledgeBase, surf to the link above, and click Support, then click KnowledgeBase. Easy huh?

I have yet to work on printer friendly view and a search tool - but good things take time. I'm quite pleased with the new system for the KB, and one major thing to note is that links are now shown as attachments at the bottom of each article as well as what software/version applies to that article.

You can see examples of attachments on the latest article regarding Windows XP support for DOS programs, as well as from the File Format for the Employee names, accessible from the Programming category.

Thanks Jon, today I have worked on the Hardware Marketplace, which can be reached from the homepage in my first post via the link or the "Hardware" tab.

I have gotten as far as a database structure, and designing category and subcategory display pages, it won't show any products just yet...

VERY Nice Look, One Thing, When Clicking On "Show all products in this category..." after going into a catogory in the hardware marketplace, you get an error message.

HTTP 404 - File not found

This Happens In All 4 Catogories.

Chris, if you read my post properly - I stated "it won't show any products just yet..."

Because the show products script does not exist yet and hence the 404 and this is why the portal is deemed a "work in progress".

It will happen in all categories because this is a dynamically created website using ASP - they all open the same show products page but identify a unique number (key) which points to the cat/subcat ID, which tells the page it's going to what products to show.
