No quantity discount
Peter,
Once upon a time I considered discounts based on what a customer bought so I posted on the forum asking what kind of discounts users would like to implement. I received answers like this....
Buy 2 of this item get a discount of 75%
Buy 2 from this category get a discount of 50%
Buy one of these and two of those and get 10% off.
Buy one of this, one of that, and two of the other and get 20% off.
Buy one of this, one of that, and two of the other and get 20% off the other but full price on the first two.
Buy this or that and anyone of those and get 15% off.
For every 3 of these you buy you will get an additional one free.
Early bird special. Buy this and that before 9:00am and get 50% off this other thing.
I then considered what I would have to do just to allow users to be able to set up discounts like this, how would the screen offer these options that would make any sense at all. I gave up on that and thought about how the program could even begin to deal with this.
At this point the walls of my office began to close in on me and I started to daydream about cool mountain streams running through lost forest glens. This lasted several pleasant hours. Everytime since then that I have thought about quantity discounts I end up back in the forest. Not much gets done that way.
It does not look like quantity discounts are going to be part of the POS program.
Sorry,

Sorry,

While at work tonight, I'm going to talk to the scanning coordinater (the lady in charge of setting up the stock tables and things like that) at our store, to find out Exactly how it's done on our system. I'll report back tonight, hopefully.
Dale, see ya in chat.
