Hello Dale,

I am having a problem ringing up credit card sales. Every time that I ring up a credit card sale, i get the following error.

Permission denied in line 0 of module POS4 at address 4039:72D9
Hit any key to return to system

I am using version 6.40a. I am getting this ready for real time, if you need the pos file, let me know.

Thank you,
Bobby

Bobby,

Well that is pretty weird, I have never heard of that before. Try rebooting your system and trying it again. If that does not do anything then you can email your ????????.POS to me with a note.

Just a thought and it may not apply here, but whenever I've had this kind of problem it's been because a POS file has been set as Read Only, usually because I've copied it directly from a CD I've written it to previously.

you have said it it is what has caused me problems in the past.

here is the steps to fix it

1. go to where the POS folder is.
2. right click on it the goto properties
3. untick the box where it says "read only"
4. on the next screen anwser yes to it and you should have no more problems

Did not fix

Hello,

Thank you for the advice, but it did not fix my problem. Dale, I am emailing you a copy of the pos and a screenshot of the error.

Here is a copy of the text:

Here are my steps:

open aprint3
open pos
press any key
press any key
enter opening cash fund, press enter
1. APRINT3.EXE is running, continue, press enter
opening journal prints
1. Purchase, press enter
press 2, press enter
A SALADS, press enter
A Garden Salad, press enter
Quantity 1, press enter
Press + to total sale
Select 3. Print Receipt, complete sale. Press enter
ENTER TIP AMOUNT FOR, press enter
Select 3. Credit, press enter
Enter amount, 1, press enter
Receipt prints
Receive error, hit any key returns to system

I found that this also is true of debits

Cash and checks work correctly, no problems. Gift cards worked when set up, when not set up, they crashed the program. Also, in the gift card options, if you select 1. Print a receipt, it does not print, if you select 2. Do not print a receipt, it prints.

Thanks,
Bobby

just a quick question, are you using it over a wireless network connection? i seen someone having a problem and it was suggested it may be the network..

Figured out what is causing fault

Hello Dale,

I found out how the problem is occurring and why you did not see it. It is my fault for not including the local printer settings in my description of the problem.

1. I am using aprint to print my receipts. I have a star 643 printer and I can print our logo on the receipt if I use the rater driver.

2. I had the settings set to print two receipts for credit card sales (Local setting)

The problem occurs, I think, when POS tries to write to the WLSDFKJN.DRY file while aprint3 is trying to print the file. I changed this setting to no, and the problem disappeared.

I do not know if there is a fix for this or not?

Let me know what you think.

Thanks Dale,
Bobby

Bobby,

I went to your POS settings and set up the program to print 2 copies of each receipt and an extra receipt for credit sales. I then rang up a credit sale and the program printed out 3 receipts with no problem.

Try this. Set "extra receipt for credit" to "NO" and "Print 1 or 2 receipts" to 2. Now go back to the POS program and do any sale and see if it prints 2 receipts without an error.

If you get an error then turn off your raster driver and then see if it will print 2 receipts.

printer setting

Hello,

I think I have narrowed this down to printer settings.

I went into the printer settings.
Under the advanced tab, I had the printer set to Print directly to the printer. I switched the setting to Spool print documents so program finished printing faster and the problem went away.
The program and printer printed the correct amount of receipts, with no errors.

Thank you Dale for all your help with troubleshooting this,
Bobby
