My customer sales.since data includes some
goof-ups and some bogus sales I made to real
customer accounts when I was experimenting
with this this winter.
Is all that data in my .SLS file or is
some of it in my .CST file?
To start fresh and clean now without having
to re-enter all the names, addresses,
phone numbers, do I just delete the
.SLS file?
Thanks.

.SLS is the sales records file
.CST is the customer info

I'm not sure of the effects of deleting these as there may be links between the sales file and the journal etc.

Well, I won't delete .CST but I could live without
.SLS and .JNL to make a fresh clean start.
Once you have exported .CST data,
can you import it back into a new clean
.CST file like you can with .TBL?

Chasmit,

I looked at the customer info database in POSCONFG and it only has an export option, no import.

That's why I asked.

.SLS file

The .SLS file contains the date, customer ID, and amount of every sale since it's creation.

It is used when you want to list all past sales of a customer or the "sales since" feature."

Other sales figures, like total sales, total refunds, etc, are kept in the .CST file.

Then to 'erase' false sales..?

Then for me to actually do away with the old
bogus sales I made this winter-
I just have to re-enter the customers into
a new clean .CST file?
Or else past previous fake 'total sales' and
'total refunds' would persist indefinitely?
I can handle that if that's what it takes
to get flying straight.
But do you see a more simple way out?

Yes, to be fresh it would require re-entry because as Dale said, those sales figures have been stored with those customers.
