Parity Check

Technical problem here. Have DHPOS installed on a Dell Optiplex PII 400 running in FREEDOS. Everything works fine so long as transactions are 'rung up' regularly. However, if the system is left on the sales screen for 20 minutes or so (and it happened in screen saver mode which I turned off as an attempted preventative measure) although everything still looks fine, when you press a key the screen goes black with the words PARITY CHECK appearing in a large script in the top left hand corner. The system then has to be rebooted.

Anyone have any idea what the cause might be? Thanks in advance for suggestions.

Quick follow up. Looks as though it has nothing to do with either DHPOS or FREEDOS and more to do with a possible fault on the computer itself as two other machines (an Optiplex PI 266 and a Compaq PII 350) which are configured the same showed no fault when tested in the same way.

Final comment for anyone who's interested. Looks as though it was linked to some kind of hard disk fault. Anyway, when I swapped the disk (which appears to work fine in normal use) the error went away.

Disk was an old 4 GB Maxtor.
