This is not to serious just rather annoying:-
Using DHPOS on 2 PC's with Win98 and identical LPT receipt printers & cash drawers I never had any cash drawer problems.
A few of hours AFTER upgrading to 6.37c i noticed that on the one PC the cash drawer opens when enter is pressed to go to the next option which is the choice to print a receipt or not.
At first I thought it could not have anything to do with the upgrade as only 1 PC was acting up.
However, after a day the other PC started acting in the same way.
Although I have not changed the drawer open codes recently I still tested different codes but it made no difference to this behaviour.
Any ideas or advice ??
or
does anybody have a similar problem ?
[/u]
Strange behaviour

Cash drawer
ToPS,
OK, grab something to drink and put your feet up, this might take a few minutes.
The current release version of APRINT.EXE will not print receipts if you use the features "Ask before printing a sales receipt" and "Pause between printing receipts"
To fix this, and a few other problems, Jon has written a new version of APRINT that is currently being tested here http://www.dhpos.com/discuss/phpBB2/vie ... 53b60423a1 Well at least I think it is being tested, no one has posted so far.
However to assist the new version of APRINT a few changes had to be made to the POS program and one of those was to how the program handles opening the cash drawer when the "Ask before printing a sales receipt" feature is used. The program will open the cash drawer BEFORE it asks you if you want to print a receipt. And it will do this even if you are not using APRINT.
Actually the program was always supposed to open the cash drawer first, it just does it better now. The concept is that even if you do not print a receipt you still have to open the cash drawer to make change and the program always was supposed to pop open the cash drawer first so that you could be making change while the receipt is being printed.
So if your register was not opening the register until after you decided if you wanted to print a receipt, that is not what was supposed to happen. So good news, it is now working correctly.

Dale,
Thanx again for an excellent explanation.
Yes, it does make sense and does save some time when one does not have to wait for the receipt to finish printing.
We will get used to it.
I have downloaded the new APrint - just havn't had time to test it.
I still have a few things to do but afterwards (should be at about 00:45) I will follow your advice and get that something to drink.
Regards

Huh
Tina,
It is kind of difficult to follow the syntax of your post but I think I am closing in on it.
I am assuming that you are using POS version 6.38c in conjunction with the new APRINT2.EXE program, right?
When you have select to "Ask before printing sales receipt" are you printing to FILE: or LPT1:?
Is it the POS program that is freezing up or the APRINT2 is freezing up?
If it is the POS program that is freezing does the freezing happen before you select to print or after you choose.
Does it make a difference which option (print / don't print) you choose?
I have gotten a lot of replies by email about this and so far everyone but you has said that it works great.
