State of the Forum.

Well, I see there have been a few changes to the forum. The one odd thing I notice is that the Annoncements and Stickys seem to stay at the top of the list, no matter how old they are. I kinda miss the old days when the threads with the newest posts were on top, no matter what. I tried looking for a sort feature, with no luck. Is there anyway to change the order in which I view the forum? Or could we maybe do some housekeeping and un-prioritize old priorities?
Thanks in advance,
-Ryan :-)

phpBB (The forums software) Keeps Announcements and stickys on top as they are Supposed to be used for important things that wouldnt go out of date but unfortantly our housekeeping (admins mod's) do not remove these old posts as time passes unlike some better softwares (IPB vBulletin) of which remove old annoucements/stickys that are old/ that have not been viewed in 1 month Johnathan should uprade the forums to IPB beacuse bdude has found a site that has IPB 2.0.0 final which is the last free verison of invison power board as for all my forums now run invison power board as per my avatar and sig

The differnce between stickys and announcements:
The announcements are more important and so stay up the top of the list ON EVERY PAGE
The stickys are more than likely informative and shouldn't get buried down the list so are only on the first page

Ryan,
We've not made any changes - announcements and stickies have always been there, with the newest topics/posts directly beneath.
As for IBM,
I'm sure Dale does too - but I regularly skim over the stickies and announcements to ensure they're still accurate and relevant.
Currently I cannot see any such items which would warrant removal, we must remember the forum will be one (if the only) visit, a new DHPOS user will make to the community and the stickies/announcements provide a useful "catch-up" or "FAQ" to these users.
phpBB has served us well and continues to do so, everyone's entitled to their own opinion - we installed this several years ago when we had to vacate our Network54 forum in great haste due to their abhorrent spyware usage.
To continually bash the system we currently use is a bit of a slap in the face for Jon, Dale and I - as well as the "oldies" who participated in our rapid search for a replacement forum, don't you think?

Andrew,
I guess i never really paid attention to the Announcements/Stickies after the forum conversion. I wasn't complaining, just curious.

Andrew,
It looks to be i had a bit of a typo in my message most likely being that i typed that message at 3am this morning:
"phpBB (The forums software) Keeps Announcements and stickys on top as they are Supposed to be used for important things that wouldnt go out of date but unfortantly our housekeeping (admins mod's) do not remove these old posts
Freqlently as time passes unlike some better softwares (IPB vBulletin) of which remove old annoucements/stickys that are old/ that have not been viewed in 1 month Johnathan should uprade the forums to IPB beacuse bdude has found a site that has IPB 2.0.0 final which is the last free verison of invison power board as for all my forums now run invison power board as per my avatar and sig"

Several does not necessarily = seven.
