Alright... I have four options available to me for backup up the POS data (yes, this register is used in a retail gaming store, I'll take a pic sometime).
1) Floppy (uh... probably not)
2) CD (reasonable, with stipulations... maybe)
3) USB Jumpdrive (256MB, not bad, but I use it for a more personal means of backing up)
4) USB Zip 100 Drive (Got it when I was in college getting my Associates in Graphic Technology, had to for those 'last minute' projects)
Now, I work at a major video company, I'm an assistant manager, I know the system there better than anyone else 'cept the MAIN store manager. Part of the reason I got my assistant manager job, cause of the technicalities. Anyways, back to the topic... The store that I work at uses a MS-DOS based retail software, and their means of backup is tape. One day for every day of the week. I want to something similar to this for DHPOS... I dunno how I'd make a CD-Burner do a backup every so often... or how to structure that... The Zip Drive... I can get a disk for every day of the week, not a problem... but since it's an external drive... It'd have that slight chance of... theft of the drive itself.
Any suggestions? Eventually the system @ the store with have a Kiosk and a Server (Building myself for the store).
Backing up...
