I have an idea for some new features:

- With POLE.EXE program, instead of displaying WELCOME TO......., give the option of what text to use (custom text)

- In BIGBOLE.exe, on the right side (where the sale is not being done), have a feature that one can add his/her promotional text, such as where some supermarkets and some stores do.

- In BIGPOLE.exe (and/or POLE.exe) program, where it says WELCOME TO......, have a 2-3 line scrolling message (1, 2, and/or 3 lines scroll, where some can stay still).

FINALLY

- In the POS.exe program, in the transcation, have the ability to select an item using the up and down arrow keys, so one does not have to void all of the items below it to edit that single item.

You don't have to void all the items below the item you want to remove.
When you select Void an Item, It asks you to enter the Number of the Line you wish to void.

No, you dont have to void the lines below it, but it is a pain in the [] to
edit a higher line.
I.e. One of my clients wanted to try using scanners (this is in a cincession stand, so 2-dig stock nums are possible) so, i hooked a cue cat up to the register. Many times, the girls (dumb-a cheerleaders) would go too fast a ring the item up twice. since you cant EDIT a line, you must delete it, then go get another coke (as you already hended the customer theirs) and ring it up again. so anyhow, since they didnt know how to delete a line) instead of picking up the walkie talkie, they just said "dont ring up the next coke ya'll sell" then, no one would ring up the next coke they sold.
SHort Ending: the drawer was over $40 sharp. I had to ring up 40 cokes - thus inventory, sales figures, the cash drawer, and my brain were all screwed.

Moral of the story:
1. make an edit the line feature.
and
2. dont sign contracts with cheerleaders

immedieately removed the scanners - we also stopped tracking
inventory.

All the POLE.EXE program does is to take the text from the POS.EXE program and shoot it to the pole display. So if you want it to say something other than WELCOME TO... then the change has to be made to the POS.EXE program and there is not much room there left to do stuff.

In BIGPOLE.EXE all three modes are either centered or fill up the screen left to right so I do not know where this blank area on the right is that you speak of.

The BIGPOLE.EXE program does have lots of free room so it may be possible to have a scrolling mesage somewhere, I will think on this.

See what you get for hiring cheerleaders. This program has been out there for 4 years now and practically everyone has mastered the intricacies of voiding out a line (especially since it consists of only pressing two keys, typing in the line number, and pressing [ENTER] ) so it is hard to justify adding a whole bunch of code to the program to do it another way.

The best option is just to train the folks to actually use the register and then stick around for a couple of sales to see if they have the concept.
