Longer Store Name

Post by ProDeZigner » Sat Dec 30, 2006 7:14 pm

I was wondering if there was a way to get a slightly longer (2-3 chars.) store name for the register?

Do you mean the store name which makes up the files used by DHPOS, e.g. "MARTHA.POS" or the full name e.g. "Martha's Wholesale Goods"?

If you are referring to the file name, no - it's limited to 8 characters as is the DOS 8.3 standard (8 characters for name + 3 for file extension/type).

Nope. Where the store name is stored in the .POS file there is stuff right before and after it. No unused space.

I could move it to the end of the file and make it longer but if I did that then all the current store names for all the other users would disappear when they upgraded to the new version.

This would ruin my popularity with all current users, what little popularity I have left that is.

Andrew - Full Name, like "The Thrift and Hobby Shop"

Dale, no problem, just curious, I'll probably leave the register name blank.

Yeah, the boards seem a little inactive, don't know if it's due to the fact it's the end of the year or what...
