[Suggestion] Auto Discounts & Inventory Discounts

Post by bdude » Fri Dec 31, 2004 7:32 pm

Hi. Whilst visiting my supermarket they have a nifty function in thier pos systems like an auto discount.
1 - AUTO DISCOUNTS
You see they may have special like two cakes for $3.00 with the individual price $1.80, and when they scan the cake it goes in as $1.80, but when they scan the 2nd cake, it automatically adds a 60c discount. This would be a really good feature in DHPOS
2 - INVENTORY DISCOUNTS
This feature is basically where the admin person can make an inventory item, that when entered into DHPOS, would automatically take, say 20c off all specific items in the sale.
e.g
+------------------------------+
Bring in this coupon for 20 c of coca cola

[barcode]
And when that barcode was scanned it would activate the 20 c of coca cola discount.

I think this would be a great feature for DH POS

Suggestion 1 has been tabled before - such discounts can be complicated, add on kind and someone else will want another...

Suggestion 2 is already there - use the Coupon/Reduction option during a sale.

1. I accept it

2. I mean you can have a barcode number 20204, which when scanned will take an amount of a particular item.
e.g I scan 20204 - 20Cents of CocaCola
It scans for all CocaCola - say item no. 2055
It takes 20c off all occurances of 2055

FormicaFun

Coupons...

Post by FormicaFun » Sat Jan 08, 2005 1:13 pm

Well, actually the UPC already found on the coupon the Mfr prints has all the info we need, just in code. Follow this link for a breakdown of how the UPC-A coupons work:

http://www.couponpros.org/html/4_yousho ... ls%202.htm

But before we get too gung-ho about adding this, coupons barcodes <in the US> are due for a refit by 2008...here's the article about how the new ones are to work:

http://www.couponpros.org/html/CouponRe ... tatus.html

Let's not forget as of Jan 01, 2005 the UCC has added another UPC to the family, not sure what it's "letter" is, but it's now 14 digits.

You do see EAN-13 barcodes on coupons as well, these mainly serve the coupon clearing house, as well as the MFR with more detail on experation date, identify the promotion the coupon was involved with, etc....

Anywho, hope this helps.

This is the way I do it:

FOR COUPONS:
In the stock table, start a new line, type number, type description, under price (regular): type -Your discount amount here

When you are at the POS screen, and you enter the item in, it should take off.

Just my suggestion. :)
