Network Question

Post by lsunw » Thu Apr 28, 2005 10:41 am

I had a few question for setup the network DHPOS here.

1. As the Register manual mentioned that, I had to run GLOBAL POS first then run the LOCAL POS. So,how to make it autorun on windows? Which mean I have to autorun the GLOBAL then LOCAL; do i have to turn off the GLOBAL after all...If i dont turn off the GLOBAL is there any problem!?

can i do like single, just throw evrything in start folder in windows?

I believe put a shortcut to run the GLOBAL in startup.

Then start the LOCAL manually, if you put both in startup - it isn't guaranteed to start one before the other, besides - when you open DHPOS, you need to get past a couple of screens to actually have "opened" the register.

do "global" first and last

The version of the POS program in the global folder does several things that the versions in the local folder will not longer do (because it is on a network)

For example only the global version will update the history files and load the price change files when it is started, so you should start the global version in the morning before you start the local registers.

Only the global version will reset the merchandise data in the stock table when you close the register. So you should close out the global version last after all the local registers have been closed.

Note, you do not have to leave the global version running during the day. You can open and then close the global version in the morning, then start the local registers and then after you have closed all the local registers you can open and close the global register again.

Also note that only the global version will read receiving and inventory files.
