New version 6.21 of POS program released on 12-18-04

Post by Dale Harris » Sun Dec 19, 2004 2:22 am

On the "close register" screen, the closing receipt, and the sales report in "Reports" two new fields have been added, "Credit in reg." is the total of credit sales minus credit returns, including tax. "Debit in reg." is the same thing except for debit transactions.

The next feature that I am working on will be to allow the POS program total up closing reports from days that you specify. For example a sales report for an entire week/month/year instead of just one day. While version 6.21 wil not do this it will begin saving the sales data to the drive so that once this feature is finished it will be able to read data starting from when you installed 6.21.

SHELF TAGS
When you can edit the stock table press "[F5] Move / Export Lines" and then select the stock items you want to print as shelf tags / labels.

Press [7] to export lines from your stock table to either a printer, a text file that can be loaded into any word processing program, or a data file that can then be loaded into any spreadsheet or database program.

When exporting you may export all lines, all selected lines, or all lines with non-zero stock numbers.

You may choose only those fields you wish to export and the order in which you wish to export them.

You may choose to export your merchandise as LINES or SHELF TAGS. "Lines" will export the fields for each item on one line.

If you choose to export "shelf tags" you will have several options. "Custom" will print each field on a separate line in the order you have chosen. A label will proceed the data on each line except for the "stock number", "description", and "vendor stock number" lines.

<center><pre>3713541354121
IMPORT RUBBER GRIP KEY
PRICE: 4.29
INVENTORY: 236
COST: .89
XFG4154141HDSDH41

Sample custom tag.</pre></center>

"Price" tags will print only the stock number, description and price on a tag no matter what fields you have chosen.

<center><pre>IMPORT RUBBER GRIP KEY
3713541354121 REG. 4.29

Sample price tag.</pre></center>

"Sale" tags will print only the stock number, description, regular price and sale price on a tag no matter what fields you have chosen. However if the item has a sale price of 0.00 then a "price" will be printed instead of a "sale" tag even though you have selected to print "sale" tags.

<center><pre>IMPORT RUBBER GRIP KEY
3713541354121
REG. 4.29 Sale 3.99

Sample sale tag.</pre></center>

There are several format options for shelf tags...

"## Lines from the top of one tag to the top of the next tag." You must set this correctly to start printing at the top of each tag on the sheet. You must make sure that you have set the number of lines to equal or greater than the number of lines on a tag.

"## Tags per row. (How many across?)" If your sheets of tags are placed 2 across on the sheet then you will probably want to print 2 across tags.

"## Tag width. (In characters.)" From the left edge of one tag to the left edge of the tag next to it how many characters must you print?

"## Left margin. (In characters.)" This shifts tags to the right.

"## Top margin. (In lines.)" This will shift tags down the page.

"## Printed lines per page" (If zero, printing will be continous,) No "page feed" if zero.

"## Bottom margin. (In lines.) Blank lines at the botttom of the page.

"Justification." You may choose to justify your tags to the LEFT, CENTER, or RIGHT.

Since shelf tags have many settings you will probably want to "[F7] See sample output" before you actually begin exporting tags. Be careful, this program assumes that you know what you want to do and if you select to print 78 tags wide with 81 characters to the next tag and 64 lines per tag then the program will actually try to do this. The results will not be pretty and will use up a whole forest of paper. Or the program will just die.

You may export as TEXT or DATA. TEXT may be sent to the printer or as a disk file that can be loaded into any word processing file. After loading a TEXT file into your word processing program make sure that you change the font to COURIER (in your word processing software) otherwise the columns will not line up. DATA files are saved as "comma delimited" files and may be loaded into any spreadsheet or database software. NOTE: in DATA files, quotes (") in "descriptions" and "vendor stock numbers" will be changed into double apostrophes (' ').

Fresh Install of 6.21

Post by Tina » Wed Dec 22, 2004 12:19 am

Tonight I installed a fresh copy of POS into a brand new folder and re-input new test data to try it out.. I am running into two problems..

From reports menu #8 from main menu
i am being asked for my employee pin (this seems to be a new feature, is it??)

Nothing shows up for sales in the next screen after test sales have been made.

Sales Reports Option A.

Is this a user error or a program error???

Thanks, Tina

As far as I remember - a PIN (if you are using employees and PINs) is required when you select any option from the main menu.

Correction

The prgram does not ask for my pin # in a pin box. It brings up a window with all associates and at the top it says Enter Your Associate Number.

Tina - that's what that menu option is for - it is for seeing/altering all the names.

Reports

Post by Tina » Wed Dec 22, 2004 2:26 am

I am having trouble with the reporting feature.

From the main menu #8 is selected Reports

Enter Reports password box appears (it was set up to require this in Names & Passwords in Posconfig)

After I put password in a new screen appears--- Enter Associate Number

I choose my name and # (this is the screen that is new)

Sales Merchandise Reports Screen appears..

Option A Total Sales Selected

Nothing in the reporting screen except for the very top line that displays the store name, one line only & nothing else. No figures and no other data appears.

Sales reporting

Post by Dale Harris » Fri Dec 31, 2004 7:29 am

Tina,

You do not say what version of the program you are using. I have tried to reproduce your problem here with no success. If you are using an old version of the program could you try downloading the new version (6.22) and see if that solves the problem. 6.22 has a lot of new stuff for the sales report.

If that does not solve you problem could you please send to me your ?????.POS file as an attachment to an email to daleharris@prodigy.net This will allow me to run the program here with your settings.
Dale
