Touchscreen POS system

Hi All,

Recently, I received a Touchscreen POS system from a friend of my, as he is not into POS, he is giving it away for better use. It's a Xn500 with an ELO touchscreen, a processor speed of K6/2 300Mhz (have a 450Mhz lying around somewhere, don't know if I should upgrade it somehow), runs on Win98 se, 64m of ram (intend to upgrade it to 256mb)and 2Gb of hhd. A cool piece of system . Tried installing Dale's POS software, works great......it's just too bad it doesn't comes with touchscreen capabilities, but it's ok. Still love your great piece of work anyhow, have two computers up and running using your masterpiece. hehe

I am thinking of setting up a quick checkout system (inventory use) or a normal POS system. What software would u guys recommend? Can't find anything on the web , hence I am seeking help from all the POS gurus out there. Btw, I am running a small grocery store and do not require anything fancy. I know nothing comes free, well except........ hehe...... but still it's best when it's free. O.....Another question, what is SQL? How does it works in a more sophisticated POS software?

SQL (Structured Query Language) is an extremely robust and powerful database type. It's fast and has large capacity.

Most people opt for MySQL (http://www.mysql.com) as it is free, but Microsoft also have their own offering...

BTW - DHPOS is more than "OK"

Hahaha..... I know, that's why I qoute it as a masterpiece. So Andrew, what software would u recommend??? Anything in mind???
