Importing MS Access Customer Data into POS 6.09
Post
by WindsorSwingKid » Mon Oct 11, 2004 6:56 pm
I have an existing customer database of over eight hundred records in MS Access... I have looked throughout the Web site and have not found any way to convert/extract/import the Access DB into a format that POS 6.09 could understand... Is there any way to do this? I have already:
- checked a small .CST file to see what fixed column width formatting is necessary...
- used Excel to handle some text manipulation and concatenation to set the fixed field widths...
- and used Word to copy the extra special characters between the records of the original .CST file and paste them between each of the new records...
I would not want to re-type all of this information over again from Access into POS... Thanks...
John...

There is currently no import customers function. If Dale were to implement one.
It would likely be from a CSV (comma separated value) file and the data would have to be in a particular order as for importing stock.
Dale may provide further info on the file format but writing your own CST file could yield it's own hidden hassles...
